Traditional Rivals Kick Off 2008

AFL Football in 2008 got off to a great start with traditional rivals, Carlton and Richmond battling it out before a crowd of more than 72,000 fans at the MCG.

It was a great game.

Just before half time you would have thought that Carlton had taken control, leading by 25 points. However, Nathan Brown stemmed the tide.

Richmond proved to be the stronger side on the night, kicking 8 goals to 2 in the second half. They were well served by Matthew Richardson who kicked 5 goals. Also, Jake King was outstanding.

In my view, Carlton supporters shouldn’t be too disappointed - particularly since Stevens and Judd were underdone.

They will get better as we get further down the track.
